ALPHA AT
ST JOHN’S – an invitation
We are
delighted to announce that we shall be running our first Alpha course, starting
on Tuesday 21st October.
If you
don’t know what Alpha is all about, here’s your chance to find out what’s fired
up so many people and transformed their lives.
The Alpha
course is a practical opportunity to look at the Christian faith in a relaxed,
informal, non-intrusive and fun way.
Developed at Holy Trinity Brompton church in London over the last 25
years, Alpha has swept across the UK and all over the world: there are now more than 30,000 courses
running in over 150 countries, in churches from every major Christian
denomination, as well as in prisons, schools, universities and places of work.
The course
is light-touch and no-pressure: it’s for
non-Christians as much as for existing Christians – indeed, it’s for absolutely
anyone and everyone is welcome, irrespective of background. The course consists of a series of 15 talks
looking at topics including:
Each
session lasts around two hours or so, starting with a light lunch. There is then a DVD presentation, followed
by open discussion on the topic, and whatever issues arise. Listen, learn, discuss and discover: no question is out of bounds and you can say
as much or as little as you wish. Whilst
the greatest benefit comes from attending the entire course, this is not
compulsory: many of our congregation are
periodic visitors, so feel free to dip in and dip out as you want.
Then why not give it a
try? You have nothing to lose and so
much to gain.
Ring Leona McNamee to talk
about it on 0494 522359 (home) or 0608 113203 (mob), or email her at lmcnamee@orange.fr
