as I have loved you, you should also love one another”

                                                                             John 13

Opening  Hymn 277 Jesus Shall Reign

The first reading: Revelations 21: 1-6

Text Box: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

Around the Gospel : 273  Jesus Name Above all Names

Gospel : John: 13: 33-35

Text Box:
Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.'
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you cannot follow me now; but you will follow afterward."
Peter said to him, "Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."
Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Very truly, I tell you, before the cock crows, you will have denied me three times.

100 years!!!

What a wonderful weekend that seemed to go too fast!

Just to remember: a talk on the history of the Anglophones here in this area, and the Church of St John’s; visits to Valescure, to All Saints Church and  villas built by the Anglophones; a delicious tea; a wonderful choir concert of  church music of the last 100 years; Sunday morning festival celebration with  the Bishop which brought everything to a wonderful conclusion  and a family Sunday lunch!

A weekend to long remember as we give thanks for the history of our church, and prayed for its future. So many thanks to everyone were expressed because of the most tremendous support everyone has given in time, talent and money. Much appreciation to the choir and organists for the wonderful music provided.

Very special thanks were given to both Anne and Alan for their dedication and hard work and leadership which has made this centenary possible
