The Church of St. John the Evangelist in St. Raphaël is the only Anglican Church in the Var. Consequently, members of the congregation who reside in France are spread over a wide geographic area, many having to make a lengthy journey to reach the Church. Also, many members of the congregation are only part-time residents in the Var, through having second homes or holiday/mobile homes in the region, to which they make regular visits. This web site was conceived to help all the members of the congregation keep up-to-date with news and events relating to the Church. It is also intended to serve as an information base for vacation or business visitors to the region who may be seeking an English-language Anglician Church during their stay.
The web site uses "buttons" to navigate internally - the buttons should highlight as your mouse passes over them, and reverse, with red text, if you click the mouse. External links do not use buttons; these links normally appear as red text (unless your browser overrides or ignores the colour scheme set down in the style sheet). Your mouse pointer should change to a pointing finger as the mouse reaches one of these links. The web site has only been tested in a limited number of browsers, so if you find the behaviour is strange in your browser, please use the email form to notify the webmaster.
For the technically-minded, the web site uses frames to locate the pages in the browser window, and Cascading Style Sheets to set the overall style. Buttons are defined as "Hot-Spots" using conventional HTML, but a simple Java script is used to reload the main information frame and the "... please select ..." page. Page development has been undertaken using HotMeTal 4, with button design carried out in PhotoImpact XL. The web site is hosted by me2uweb.
The WebMaster is Ian Valentine, based in Ascot (UK) and St. Raphaël. He can be contacted by email to ian@cival.info.
