Our service of “Christmas Lessons and Carols – Many voices, one Gospel” took place on 18 December at 6pm and was a joyful, musical event, as always. Sadly some of our French friends were missing as the football World Cup had gone into extra time and they wanted to know if France won. However, we had a good attendance, including some from the local ecumenical group and others from the British Association of the Var. Adding to the traditional Anglican format, we like to acknowledge our interational congregation so there were readings in French, German, Spanish, Swedish and Scots dialect – all with translations, of course. Our music director, Shirley Rowson, was presented with a bouquet of flowers to acknowledge her work with the choir – who sang two Christmas songs – and her help in organising the service.
Mulled wine and home made mince pies were served afterwards, prepared and served by our faithful catering team under the leadship of Sherlie Bretel.
