We had a joyful and musical Easter Sunday service, despite the heavy rain outside! The choir sang “The Power of the Cross” in a special arrangement accompanied by a new friend to St John’s, Jacques, who is a professor of music at the local conservatoire. He also played the keyboard for the hymns, alongside Shirley on the organ and our violinist, Lauren. The service finished with the moving “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah” and we hope to renew this tradition after a break of a few years. The flower arrangements were wonderful, as always, and it was good to welcome some visitors.

We then enjoyed a meal prepared by a local “traiteur”, which was delicious, and all the more so for not having to prepare it ourselves. It was great to see the church family eating and socialising together on this special day
