After two postponements due to the pandemic, the choir was finally able to present their special service “Songs of Praise”, based mainly on modern hymns. A short background was given to the composers and circumstances of the hymn being written. Half were for choir and congregation and, true to St John’s tradition, these were sung with great enthusiasm by all. The choir also sang 5 anthems based on hymns. It was a great celebration of the freedom to sing together, albeit in the chancel far away from the audience, and we thank all who took part – Chaplain, choir, violinist, organist, readers and catering staff who served a delicious aperitif afterwards.
